Hailing from Dallas, Texas, Erica Tazel has made an impression on her Hollywood peers establishing herself as a notable and versatile actor. Tazel currently stars in FX's drama series Justified portraying U.S. Marshall "Rachel Brooks."
She has an engaging list of television credits with guest-starring roles on Emmy® and Golden Globe® Award-winning shows such as The Office, ER, Law & Order, Law & Order: SVU, Sex and the City, Life, Heartland, Bones and Firefly; recurring roles on Jericho and Third Watch and she took a guest leading position on Without A Trace.
Tazel has made quite a few appearances Off-Broadway in Playwrights Horizons' Juvenilia, Royal Shakespeare Company's Cymbeline, and New York Shakespeare Festival's A Winter's Tale where she made her professional debut.
Her extensive list of regional theatre projects in which she has performed took her to Laguna Playhouse, The Colony Theatre, Hartford TheaterWorks, The Old Globe, Dallas Theatre Center, Arizona Theater Company and Williamstown Theatre Festival.
In 2007, she earned the prestigious NAACP Theatre Award for Best Lead Female and a Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Nomination for Lead Performance for her portrayal of "Juliette" in I Have Before Me a Remarkable Document Given to Me by a Young Lady from Rwanda.
Most recently, Tazel was bus coordinator for Get on the Bus, an organization that reunites children with their incarcerated parent for Mother's and Father's Day, a construction laborer in a rebuilding project in Haiti, and a recreational entertainer at Sparrow Rainbow Village, and AIDS hospice and orphanage in Johannesburg, South Africa, all — considered her most important and transformational roles yet.
Tazel received her B.A. in Theater from Spelman College and M.F.A. from NYU's Graduate Acting Program.
