Ivy Jones stars as Christine Baskets’ tough, foul-mouthed mother “Grandma Baskets.” But there’s wisdom in her crudeness.
When the boat from New York docked in Los Angeles it dumped this Italian Jewess on the prairie to be a recurring guest star on such television classics as The Waltons and Little House on the Prairie. Jones was finally able to trade in the long skirts & ruffled blouses for a blazer & heels while guest-starring on The West Wing and most recently the ABC mini-series Madoff, starring Richard Dreyfuss and directed by her Oscar® nominated brother Raymond De Felitta.
Her numerous stage credits in Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco include her turn as the legendary French chanteuse Édith Piaf, the long running one-women play Annulla as a Holocaust survivor who tells her true tale as she cooks chicken soup top to bottom and a slew of rich characters in After the Fall, Zorba the Greek, Cat On a Hot Tin Roof, And Miss Reardon Drinks a Little, The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940 and The Threepenny Opera among others.
Her favorite movie roles include parts in her brother's wildly popular City Island starring Andy Garcia, as well as Audrey Rose directed by Robert Wise, starring Sir Anthony Hopkins and written by her Emmy® and Peabody Award winning father, the late great Frank De Felitta from his best-selling novel.
Jones just returned from the Coachella Valley Repertory Theatre starring in 4000 Miles as a 90-year-old New Yorker with a lot to say. She dedicated the performance to her recently deceased mother Dorothy, a jazz groupie in the 1940s.
Jones graduated from Adelphi University on a full four-year theater scholarship after winning The Alexander Barnes Scholarship for Excellence.
She treasures being chosen by this genius dream team of Zach, Jonathan, Louis and Louie. And swears that being cast in Baskets let her mother die happy and gave her dad a focus to laugh and cry and let go.
She is beyond grateful!
