Lance Reddick is known for his unique and unparalleled ability to portray steely, intense, multidimensional and rugged characters.
For the last four years, audiences have come to know Lance as ‘Special Agent Phillip Broyles’ on the hit FOX series Fringe. He also recently appeared in the Fox/Walden Media feature Won't Back Down opposite Oscar® nominee Viola Davis and will next appear in the Roland Emmerich film White House Down and Spike Lee’s Old Boy.
Lance recently showed off his humorous side with a comedic guest star on the FX comedy It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, a viral video “Toys R Me” for Funny or Die, and an upcoming spot for College Humor.
In 2011 Lance launched Christai Films to produce film, television and web based projects with manager and producing partner Steven Adams. Lance and Steven also recently co-produced the web series Drone for Justin Lin's YOM YOMF network on YouTube and have several film and television projects in active development. Christai Film’s first completed feature, St. Sebastian's in which Lance also stars, was directed by Danny DeVito, who also served as a producer with financier and producer Steve Bing.
From starring on the hit FOX series Fringe or the hit ABC series Lost as the mysterious ‘Matthew Abbadon,’ Lance is a familiar face to television. He came to prominence in the memorable role of ‘Lt. Cedric Daniels’ on HBO's critically acclaimed series, The Wire. This series not only brought him a global fan base, but also is known as one of the best shows on television during its five year run. Lance considers his "breakout role" to be playing detective ‘John Basil’ (aka ’Mobey’) on HBO’s OZ. He is also known for his outstanding work on the award-winning series The Corner.
Lance starred in the Lee Daniels film, Tennessee, opposite Mariah Carey and Jonah Hex opposite James Brolin. Other feature work includes films opposite Daniel Craig and Kim Basinger in I Dreamed of Africa, The Siege for director Ed Zwick, and the indie film Bad City and Way of War, with Cuba Gooding Jr.
A theater actor by training, Lance is a graduate of the Yale School of Drama. One of his first roles was playing Jeffrey Wright’s understudy on Broadway in his Tony® award winning role as ‘Belize’ in Angels in America. Lance has also appeared off-Broadway in productions of Henry V, Julius Caesar, Afterplay, On House, and the critically acclaimed 2006 off-Broadway revival of August Wilson's 7 Guitars, in which Lance played the lead character of ‘Floyd.’
An accomplished musician, Lance studied classical composition at The Eastman School of music. He wrote, composed and sang all the songs on his debut album “Contemplations & Remembrances,” a contemporary collection of Jazz music currently available on iTunes.
Lance was born and raised in Baltimore, MD and currently resides in Los Angeles and Vancouver.
