Name: Carla Baratta
Role: Adelita, FX's Mayans M.C.
Previous Work: Prueba de Fe, Escándalos, Sol

Was there a certain performance that inspired you to get into acting?
I saw Million Dollar Baby and thought, 'I want to do that, be strong like her. I want to feel the power.' So now I'm doing that with [my character] Adelita.

Is there a particular moment on set that's been really memorable for you?
The first time that I met the guys was pretty overwhelming because they're really big and strong, but they're the sweetest guys. Being on set with the kids is also such a memorable experience. They inspire me so much. They're so present on set. I just melt every time that I'm on set with the kids. I want to be there all the time with them.

What's the best piece of advice you've ever received?
My Italian Grandma always says "paso a paso se va lejos." "Step-by-step you go far." Every time I'm rushing, or want something to happen now, I remember that if you go at your own pace doing the things that you can do, you'll go far and something great is going to happen. But you have to be calm and go step-by-step.

What would you be doing if you weren't an actress?
I'm an architect, so I would probably be doing scenography. I'm also a painter, so if I wouldn't be acting I would definitely be painting and creating things.

The first time that I met the guys was pretty overwhelming because they're really big and strong, but they're the sweetest guys.

What's your proudest accomplishment thus far?
My family. My husband, my sisters, my brothers, my niece and nephew, my parents.  That's what keeps me happy every day. And I think that's my biggest accomplishment, to have love in my life. To know that at the end of the day, everything is going to be fine because I have the people that I love around me. If I'm good with them, everything else around me is like a bonus.

When there is downtime on set, what are usually doing?
I'm painting all the time. I always have my sketchbook and crayons in my purse. I even have a book of Adelita’s paintings. I'll just draw what she would draw, which is a different style than my own.

What are three words you would use to describe your character?
Badass. Smart. Motherly.

What are three words to describe yourself?
Artistic. Insecure. Honest.

What's something you never leave the house without?
My crayons and sketchbook. I panic if I leave those things at home. Even if I know I'm not going to use them, I just feel secure if I have them with me.

What's something about you that would surprise people?
That I'm strong. I've been through a lot of things in my life, so I have all that strength inside of me. I come across like a really calm person, but I think it's because of all the things that I've been through.
