Name: Richard Cabral
Role: Johnny "Coco" Cruz, Mayans M.C.
Previous Work: American Crime, Lethal Weapon, Southland, Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones, Chicago Fire
When there's down time on set, what are you usually doing?
Listening to my iPod.
What kind of music do you usually listen to?
For every character, I build a playlist. For Coco, it started with a lot of classic rock. And then I think it just started getting weird. It just got dark. I'm finally trying to be my character and I try to just lock in when I have heavy days. I just stay in my own little world.
If you weren't acting, what would you be doing?
Well, I was a baker before I was an actor. It's an art. Or I would be a writer.
When you're in a bad mood, what's something that always makes you feel better?
I like to meditate or try to get out there in the elements. I try to do something natural in order to take me out of what is driving me crazy. Or look in my child's eyes. The eyes will always bring you back.
What's the best piece of advice you've ever received?
To not let your past dictate your future.
What three words would you use to describe your character?
Deep, broken and committed.
What is favorite place in the world to visit?
What do you never leave the house without?
My charger. And my Saint. I never leave home without my Saint. My grandma gave me a little Saint to put in my wallet and I always carry it with me. It's Niño de Atocha, a Saint from Mexico. She gave me that for good luck and to take care of me.
What's been your favorite onset moment?
I think it's when we're riding with the boys. Just riding.
Don't miss the season finale of Mayans M.C., tonight at 10p on FX.
