Cast members from You're the Worst, Atlanta, Mayans M.C. and more pick their favorite quotes and reveal their favorite onset activity.

Aya Cash
Role: Gretchen Cutler, You're the Worst

805_Aya-Cash.jpg

When there's downtime on set I am…
Reading on my phone playing Boggle. [I am] so good, it's painful for people to play with me.

What I love more about my character is…
I love everything about Gretchen. She's very much herself without apology, she rocks a heel on a daily basis like I could never, and she's got great hair. Oh, wait. That's me, too.

My favorite line is…
It's such a weird little line, but "that's my sheeeit." Because I worked with this actor Nelson Franklin a long time ago who introduced me [to] The Wire. And he introduced me to "sheeeit" from The Wire. So when I had that line I got to do the Nelson Franklin version of The Wire.

Cheyenne Jackson

805_Cheyenne-Jackson.jpg

Role(s): Will Drake, American Horror Story: Hotel, Sidney Aaron James, American Horror Story: Roanoke, Dr. Rudy Vincent, American Horror Story: Cult

When there's downtime on set I am…
Sitting with Sarah [Paulson] singing and gossiping. We're singing whatever silly things.

What I love most about my Cult character was…
What I liked most about my character was that this time most of my stuff was with Sarah. I don't usually get to share the screen with her.

Angela Lewis
Role: Aunt Louie, Snowfall

805_Angela-Lewis.jpg

When there's downtime on set I am…
Laughing hysterically with my cast! I'm not the comedian, but I thoroughly enjoy the jokes. I also joke with Amin Joseph, who plays Jerome to my Louie. We get into lots of debates over what's going on with our characters.

What I love most about my character is…
That she has so much heart. She is tough as nails, but on the inside, she's so scared. She doesn't want anybody to take away what she's trying to get to.

My advice to my character is…
Keep going! And to know she is loved.

JD Pardo
Role:
Ezekiel "EZ" Reyes, Mayans M.C.

805_Mayans-cast.jpg

When there's downtime on set I am…
Playing chess on my phone. I'm not gonna lie, I am [good]. I've beaten everyone else on set.

What I love most about my character is…
He's got a good heart. Everything he's going through. Being in prison and coming out and trying to find himself can change you, and I feel like his heart is still there. And I love that. It gives me something to fight for.

My favorite line is…
"Whatever the club needs."

Zazie Beetz
Role:
Van, Atlanta

805_Zazie.jpg

When there's downtime on set I am…
Knitting. I knit hats, I knit blankets, scarves. I want to work on a sweater next. I did a blanket; that was pretty big, too. That takes a lot of time.

What I love most about my character is…
That she's pretty unapologetic as a person. I think she has issues she needs to work out. And also in terms of her figuring out her relationship with Earn (Donald Glover), standing up for herself in that way. But I do think she understands what she needs and what she should have, and I look forward to exploring her power in that way.

My advice to my character is…
To release yourself from the fiction that you need. That's very specific to that situation, maybe not universal, but we've all had an Earn.

Desmin Borges
Role:
Edgar Quintero, You're the Worst

805_Desmin-Borges.jpg

When there's downtime on set I am…
Eating donuts! Either an apple fritter or an X-ray Speculoos from Donut Friend in Highland Park. An X-Ray Speculoos is so damn dope. It's salted dark chocolate on top and on the inside is Cookie Butter.

What I love most about my character is…
He's just a sweet, sensitive guy who's really just misunderstood and looking for his place in the world. I feel like that was probably me for most of my life.

My favorite line is…
"I didn't know it was a school!"

Amber Nash
Role:
Pam Poovey, Archer

805_AmberNash.jpg

When there's downtime on set I am…
I work for 30 minutes when I go in. Sometimes I'll be like, "guys, I gotta have a bathroom break," but that's just because I drink so much water in the booth.

What I love most about my character is…
She's so inspiring! She started out as this mousy character and now she's like a badass that can do anything she wants and kick anybody's ass and can just do anything, literally anything. And she's also body positive and sex-positive. People love her. Women are so glad to have a big gal to cosplay as, it's really cool. She was a big gal who was kind of the butt of the joke but then it was like, "oh by the way I'm awesome." It's gone with the flow.

My favorite line is…
So many! I love "You could drown a toddler in my panties." Not always appropriate for every interview. I also love, "Hey there, Neck Bones," which is what she says to Cheryl in one episode.

Alysia Reiner
Role:
Sunny, Better Things

805_Alysia-Reiner.jpg

When there's downtime on set I am…
FaceTiming with my child. I wish I were like Pamela [Adlon] and that I had done three, but one is good. One also has its benefits.

What I love most about my character is…
Sunny is the most like me I've ever played. I love being the supportive best friend, it's like me in real life! I love being supportive to such a hero. I think I always give good advice, but no one ever listens.

My advice to my character is…
Don't sleep with him!

Damson Idris
Role:
Franklin Saint, Snowfall

805_Damson-Idris.jpg

When there's downtime on set I am…
Sleeping! We do [have a lot of night shoots], and it breaks my heart. But it's important because there's a lot of dark stuff around it.

What I love most about my character is…
He's dedicated to helping the people around him, helping his family, and creating a better life for himself.

My advice to my character is…
I'd tell him to stop selling cocaine! [Laughs] I'd tell Franklin that what he's doing is very bad. He could be a CEO of a company if he puts his mind to it.

Sarah Bolger
Role:
Emily Thomas, Mayans M.C.

805_Sarah-Bolger.jpg

When there's downtime on set I am…
I live by craft services. I like to maintain the area, the space. I take all the good stuff.

What I love most about my character is…
I play someone with a really thick skin. I don't think she's going to fold easily. She won't crumble easily. There's a tough, inner strength in there that's really exciting for me to play for hopefully many, many years.

My advice to my character is…
She's way wiser than me!

Kether Donohue
Role:
Lindsay Jillian, You're the Worst

805_Kether-Donohue.jpg

When there's downtime on set I am…
Laughing with Aya, Chris [Geere], and Des! Or watching Aya read a book.

What I love most about my character is…
The polarized extremes of Lindsay! We all know what I'm talking about. I don't think it's a secret that she covers all ends of the spectrum, and as an actor I don't think you could really ask for more. Also I say this all the time and I never get tired of saying it because it's true, but I love, love, love to be able to do really broad comedy and also explore darker sides of the character. She's pretty dark.

My favorite line is…
I kind of love when her and Edgar realize they're sidekicks. I love that scene. When she's like, "If I’m on a motorcycle, I’m driving the motorcycle, not riding in that shitty little side-motorcycle thingy." That will always be classic. I will never not love it.

Hamish Linklater
Role:
Clark DeBussy, Legion

805_Hamish-Linklater.jpg

When there's downtime on set I am…
Trying to make jokes with people and make them like me a little bit more. They're still resistant. The jokes aren't good. They're terrible jokes. I just want people to like me all the time, even between "cut" and "action," and they just don't care for me. Heavy on the dad jokes, some grandpa jokes.

What I love most about my character is…
I really love my character's hair because it's like mine and they let me do it how I want. And I also like my character's burns. And my character's blind eye because I don't have to make eye contact when people aren't laughing at my jokes.

My favorite line is…
"He may be the most powerful mutant we've met." It's a real preview line, a real commercial line, it gets your character in the promos. Basically, when you read a mutant script, you hope to say "Oh god" or "Oh dear god."

Clayton Cardenas
Role:
Angel Reyes, Mayans M.C.

805_Clayton-Cardenas.jpg

When there's downtime on set I am…
Watching JD play chess on his phone.

What I love most about my character is…
I love how calculating he is. He's always thinking. There's always an agenda in his mind. And in his mind, it's for the greater good.

My favorite line is…
"If the Mayans want a future, we gotta choose a new side."

Holly Taylor
Role:
Paige Jennings, The Americans

805_Holly-Taylor.jpg

When there's downtime on set I am…
Trying not to fall asleep!

What I love most about my character is…
That she's a strong female and she knows how to kick butt. It's really cool because usually when you're seeing a character being fight trained, it's a boy, and [I got] to do that.

My advice to my character is…
To stay strong and be able to make her own decisions and not let anyone push her around.

Chris Geere
Role:
Jimmy Shive-Overly, You're the Worst

805_Chris-Geere.jpg

When there's downtime on set I am…
By craft service. I try to make interesting sandwiches every day. I'd go to the sandwich truck and try and create something. Then I normally take a photo of it. I have a file on my phone which is just food pics.

What I love most about my character is…
All the rants, all the long speeches. As an actor, I get to really get into something, find the rhythm with the speech, and it's so well-written.

My favorite line is…
"Daniel Craig looks like an upset baby." From season two, I think. It got a lot of traction on social media. I haven't met him. That'll be a fun day. [Laughs] Hey, I didn't write it, I just said it!
