Jonathan Krisel is the executive producer and director of both FX’s Baskets and IFC’s Portlandia. For his work on Portlandia, Krisel won the Writers Guild of America Award for "Best Comedy/Variety Series – Television" in 2013, a Peabody Award in 2011 and has earned nine Primetime Emmy® nominations. He recently served as the executive producer on FXX’s Man Seeking Woman.
Krisel got his start in television when he created the Brooklyn cable access series HyperDimensional Fortress. The show garnered the attention of Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim which led to Krisel’s collaboration on the AdultSwim series Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! as director and co-executive producer.
In 2009 Krisel started making acclaimed shorts for Funny or Die, including early versions of "Rich Dicks" and "Ed Hardy Boyz" with comedian Nick Kroll. Those sketches would later become staples of Comedy Central's Kroll Show, which Krisel co-created, wrote, produced and directed in its first two seasons.
Currently, Krisel is also executive producing pilots for Nickelodeon (Light House) and HBO (Brotherhood) and is developing a project at FX.
