Snowfall

Emily Rios plays “Lucia Villanueva,” who has grown a new drug business after freeing herself from her oppressive family. Now, with Gustavo, she’s struggling as the head of this new organization, moving into a new drug, and finding that her visions of success were more elusive than she had thought. But it’s the return of family that ignites a chain of events none of them could have foreseen.

Rios will soon be seen in the key role of “Victoria" in Barry Jenkins’ feature film, If Beale Street Could Talk. The Annapurna Pictures and Plan B produced drama is based on James Baldwin’s novel and Rios joins an impressive cast that includes Kiki Layne, Dave Franco, Ed Skrein, Pedro Pascal and Regina King.

Rios starred with Diane Kruger and Demian Bichir in the FX Network crime thriller, The Bridge. For her portrayal as investigative reporter “Adriana Mendez,” the Imagen Awards honored Rios with a 2014 Best Supporting Actress nomination. She also received the 2014 National Hispanic Media Coalition Impact Award (Outstanding Performance in a Television Series) and the 2014 NHFA Horizon Award.

She recurred on the El Rey series From Dusk Till Dawn from executive producer Robert Rodriguez, playing the role of “Ximena,” the no-nonsense lieutenant of “Lord Venganza.” Other recent television credits include recurring on the HBO drama True Detective, and guest starring on the ABC series Scandal and CBS’s Criminal Minds.

Rios made her impressive acting debut as the lead in the critically acclaimed film Quinceañera, which went on to win the Audience Award and Grand Jury Prize at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival. Rios' performance earned her best actress nominations for both the Alma and Imagen Awards. Since then, she has gone on to build a resume comprised of numerous critically acclaimed productions and memorable characters, culminating in the recognition and induction by The Hollywood Reporter into their “Young Hispanic Hollywood Class of 2013.”

Rios is perhaps best known for her portrayal of “Andrea Cantillo,” on AMC’s much celebrated series, Breaking Bad. Her character’s relationship with “Jesse” (played by Aaron Paul) developed over three seasons, climaxing in her tragic and pivotal death during the show’s final season. Other notable television credits include playing Benjamin Bratt’s daughter on ABC’s Private Practice, starring opposite Ray Romano on the TNT series, Men of a Certain Age, and recurring on NBC’s Friday Night Lights. Rios has also guest starred on shows such as House, The Closer, Grimm and ER.

Rios recently starred in the independent feature film Paint It Black, directed by Amber Tamblyn. Her feature film credits include starring opposite Helen Mirren and Joe Pesci in the Taylor Hackford directed film, Love Ranch, as well as The Winning Season with Emma Roberts and Sam Rockwell. Additionally, Rios starred in Pete Smalls is Dead with Tim Roth and Steve Buscemi, and Vicious Circle which won the Best Picture Award at the 2008 New York International Latino Film Festival, as well as Down For Life, a film based on a New York Times article portraying a day in the life of a 15-year-old Latina gang leader.
