The Americans

Margo Martindale stars as Claudia, one of the Centre's most trusted handlers who presents a kind face but holds a steely resolve. Although she may often appear dangerous and cunning, she has depth and humanity that can be surprising. She has a conflicted history with the Jennings, but knows them better than most - and knows the potential strategic value of their daughter.

Martindale earned a Tony Award® nomination for her portrayal of "Big Mama" on Broadway in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. As a classically trained theater actress, she began her career on the New York stage creating iconic roles such as "Truvy" in the original production of Steel Magnolias.

Martindale has also been seen in countless notable films of the past two decades including Million Dollar Baby, Dead Man Walking, Nobody's Fool, Lorenzo's Oil, The Hours, Practical Magic, Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, Secretariat, Paris je t'aime, Beautiful Creatures, Win Win, and August: Osage County.

Martindale's work on the FX series The Americans most recently won her the 2015 Emmy® for "Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series," after being nominated for the same role in both 2013 and 2014. Additionally, Martindale received an Emmy in 2011 for "Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series" for her portrayal of the diabolically maternal crime-family boss "Mags Bennett" on the FX series Justified.

Her past television work includes stand-out performances on series such as The Millers, BoJack Horseman, A Gifted Man, Suits, Person of Interest, Smash, New Girl, Medium, Dexter and Hung.

Martindale can next be seen in the upcoming feature films Like It Once Was (directed by John Krasinski), Sophie and The Rising Sun (alongside Julianne Nicholson and Lorraine Toussaint), and Wilson (with Woody Harrelson and Laura Dern). She is currently shooting a large recurring role on the seventh season of CBS's The Good Wife, as well as Gary Marshall's upcoming ensemble feature Mother's Day. Her new television show for Amazon - Sneaky Pete - begins production in early 2016.
