Michaela Jaé Rodriguez is a Golden Globe®-winning and Emmy®-nominated actress, singer and activist.&nbsp;She is the first transgender woman to receive a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for her role as “Blanca” on FX’s Pose, a role which won&nbsp;her the Golden Globe for Best Actress in 2022.She has received countless other awards and nominations for the role including the Television Critics Association (TCA) Awards, Hollywood Critics Association TV Awards and Gold Derby TV Awards, amongst numerous others. As an activist, she is a proud representative for the LGBTQ+ community, having received the Stephen F. Kolzak Award at the 2022 GLAAD Media Awards.&nbsp;Rodriguez recently completed filming the second season of the Apple TV+ hit comedy Loot opposite Maya Rudolph, as well as the film Skincare opposite Elizabeth Banks.Rodriguez recently starred alongside Andrew Garfield in Lin-Manuel Miranda's Academy Award® nominated Tick, Tick... Boom! for Netflix and voiced the role of "Nightbird" in Universal's reboot of the live action Transformers film franchise. Additional credits include the award-winning Saturday Church, which premiered at Tribeca Film Festival, Netflix/Marvel's Luke Cage and Robin Thede's Emmy Award-winning comedy series A Black Lady Sketch Show for HBO.&nbsp;On stage, she starred as “Amber” in the Pasadena Playhouse's Little Shop of Horrors opposite Tony Award® nominee Kevin Chamberlin.&nbsp;A New Jersey native, Rodriguez found her way to New York’s theater scene when she starred in the off-Broadway production of Rent in 2011. In June 2021, she released her debut single “Something to Say” via Access Records. Disco, R&amp;B and funk-tinged pop, an immediate anthem that has Rodriguez calling people to step into their truth and let their voices be heard.&nbsp; She plans to release new music later this year.
