Career Highlights

Ed O’Neill starred for a decade as the patriarch “Jay Pritchett” on Modern Family. The role garnered him three Emmy® nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.Born in Youngstown, Ohio, O’Neill attended Ohio University in Athens and Youngstown State University. Signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers, O’Neill was cut in training camp and worked as a social studies teacher before becoming an actor. He has appeared in a number of films including The Bone Collector, Little Giants, Dutch and Wayne’s World, as well as several films for Pulitzer Prize-winning screenwriter David Mamet including The Spanish Prisoner, Spartan and the independent film Redbelt. He has also voiced many notable characters in animated films such as “Mr. Litwak” in Disney’s Wreck-It Ralph and Ralph Breaks the Internet and “Hank the Septopus” in Pixar’s Finding Dory.Best known for his role as “Al Bundy” on FOX’s long-running sitcom Married... with Children, O’Neill’s television credits also include the reincarnation of “Lieutenant Joe Friday” on Dick Wolf's remake of Dragnet, the recurring role of “Eric Baker (D-PA),” a potential vice presidential candidate on the NBC drama The West Wing, the role of “Detective Michael Mooney” on David Milch’s CBS series Big Apple and a retired cop on HBO’s John from Cincinnati from the creator/producer of NYPD Blue and Deadwood. O’Neill also had stints on Broadway, starring in the productions Lakeboat and Keep Your Pantheon.
