Jon Hamm's nuanced portrayal of the high-powered, advertising executive “Don Draper” on AMC's award-winning drama series Mad Men has firmly established him as one of Hollywood's most talented and versatile actors. He has earned numerous accolades, including an Emmy® Award in 2015 for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, Golden Globe® Awards in 2016 and 2008, Television Critics Association Awards in 2011 and 2015, a Critics' Choice Award in 2011, as well as multiple Screen Actors Guild nominations.
In 2022, Hamm was seen in the Greg Mottola-directed Confess, Fletch. He executive produced the film alongside his longtime manager and producer Connie Tavel. That summer, Hamm starred in Top Gun: Maverick. The film holds the box office record for the biggest opening over a Memorial Day weekend, grossed a total of $1.4 billion globally and was nominated for an Oscar® for Best Picture.
Recently, Hamm returned his talents to the small screen, reprising his role as “Gabriel” in the second season of Good Omens for Prime Video. Hamm will also lend his voice to the animated series Grimsburg for FOX. Hamm is executive producing alongside The Jackal Group's Gail Berman, Hend Baghdady, Connie Tavel and showrunner Chadd Gindin. Hamm also appeared in the John Slattery-directed film, Maggie Moore(s), opposite Tina Fey. In September, Hamm returns for the third season of The Morning Show for Apple TV+. Later this year, he will star in the fifth installment of FX’s critically acclaimed anthology series Fargo.
In 2020, Hamm appeared as a guest star in seasons 10 and 11 of Curb Your Enthusiasm. He also starred in John Patrick Shanley's Wild Mountain Thyme. In 2019, he appeared in Noah Hawley's directorial debut film, Lucy in the Sky. Additionally, Hamm starred in Scott Z. Burns' The Report and Richard Jewell, directed by Clint Eastwood.
In 2018, he starred in Bad Times at the El Royale for 20th Century Studios as well as in Warner Bros. comedy Tag and Tony Gilroy’s Beirut. In 2017, Hamm starred in Edgar Wright’s hugely successful heist thriller Baby Driver. He also appeared in the independent film Marjorie Prime.
In 2016, Hamm starred in 20th Century Studios’ Keeping Up with the Joneses. In 2015, he loaned his voice to the wildly successful Universal Pictures animated feature, Minions. Hamm’s previous film credits include Million Dollar Arm, Friends with Kids, Bridesmaids, The Town, Sucker Punch, Howl, Shrek Forever After, The Day the Earth Stood Still, Ira & Abby, Kissing Jessica Stein and We Were Soldiers.
Hamm’s appearances on the Emmy-winning comedy 30 Rock from 2009-2012 earned him three Emmy nominations for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series. He has also hosted Saturday Night Live three times. Hamm also appears in Netflix’s Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, which earned him an Emmy nomination. His additional credits include, A Young Doctor’s Notebook, which he starred in and executive produced, and the Larry David’s Clear History for HBO. Hamm first came to audience’s attention in NBC’s Providence. Signed for a cameo role, he impressed the producers so much that he ended up with an 18-episode run on the series.
A native of St. Louis, Missouri, Hamm received his Bachelor of Arts in English at the University of Missouri-Columbia and currently resides in Los Angeles.
