Michael London, the founder and CEO of Groundswell Productions, is a Golden Globe-winning, Oscar-nominated film producer and an Emmy-nominated television producer.London produced the Academy Award and Golden Globe-winning film “Sideways,” directed by Alexander Payne. His Oscar-nominated films include “Milk,” directed by Gus Van Sant and starring Sean Penn; “Trumbo,” directed by Jay Roach and starring Bryan Cranston; “The Visitor” and “Win Win,” both written and directed by Tom McCarthy; “The Informant!,” directed by Steven Soderbergh and starring Matt Damon; and “House of Sand and Fog,” starring Ben Kingsley and Jennifer Connelly. He also produced the beloved Christmas classic “The Family Stone,” starring Diane Keaton and Sarah Jessica Parker, and the seminal teen drama “Thirteen,” which launched the career of writer-director Catherine Hardwicke (“Twilight”). In addition, London won the prestigious 2006 Producer of the Year Award from the Palm Springs International Film Festival for “Sideways.”In television, London produced the acclaimed drama “Snowfall,” created by John Singleton, which ran for six seasons on FX.London’s recent credits include the feature film “The Greatest Hits,” a time-travel romantic comedy released by Searchlight Pictures and Hulu, and the limited series “Alice &amp; Jack,” starring Andrea Riseborough and Domhnall Gleeson, which aired on Channel 4 in the United Kingdom and PBS in the United States. Previous television credits include “The Magicians,” based on Lev Grossman’s best-selling fantasy trilogy, which ran for five seasons on Syfy and Netflix; the Golden Globe-nominated “SMILF” for Showtime, created by and starring Frankie Shaw; and the Emmy-nominated HBO film “Confirmation,” starring Kerry Washington as Anita Hill.Groundswell Productions is currently in preproduction on “Buttercup,” which will star Bill Murray and Rebecca Hall, written by Alice O’Neil and to be directed by Dito Montiel. The company’s 2026 slate also includes “The Families Stone,” the sequel to “The Family Stone” for Searchlight Pictures, which will feature the original cast in a Christmas comedy set 20 years after the original. The film is written by and will be directed by Thomas Bezucha.London was an executive vice president of production at 20th Century Studios before launching Groundswell Productions. He began his career as a staff writer at the Los Angeles Times. He is a graduate of Stanford University and was born in New Haven, Connecticut.
