Another of Wrexham’s eye-catching summer signings, Aaron Hayden had been appointed Carlisle United’s vice-captain and starred in their new-kit promotions when the club accepted a bid from Wrexham to sign the defender.
The 25-year-old spent time in both Chelsea and Wolverhampton Wanderers’ academies before his move to Carlisle, where he made more than 60 appearances and earned a reputation for scoring headed goals.
At Wrexham, that reputation has only continued – Hayden is the big defender regularly getting on the end of fellow centre-back Ben Tozer’s long throw-ins to score eight goals in his first campaign in North Wales.
