What We Do in the Shadows

Jemaine Clement is a musician, actor, writer and director from New Zealand. He is currently shooting the Blumhouse/Universal feature M3GAN 2.0. Recently, he starred in the Sony feature Harold &amp; The Purple Crayon, as well as in Avatar: The Way of Water for director James Cameron, which was the highest-grossing film at the 2022 box office and the third highest of all time. He can currently be seen in the AppleTV+ series Time Bandits, based on Terry Gilliam's 1981 film, which he also wrote and executive produced alongside Taika Waititi. He also created and executive produced the comedy series Wellington Paranormal (CW/Max), as well as What We Do in the Shadows (FX). Previously, Clement starred in the 2018 independent feature An Evening with Beverly Luff Linn alongside Aubrey Plaza and Craig Robinson. The film, written and directed by Jim Hosking, premiered at Sundance in 2018 and sold to Universal. Clement also appeared opposite Ben Stiller in the Annapurna feature Brad’s Status, which premiered at the 2017 Toronto Film Festival. In television, Clement starred as “Oliver Bird” in FX’s drama series Legion created by Noah Hawley. Clement is perhaps best known as one-half of the musical comedy duo Flight of the Conchords. The group completed a U.K. arena tour in the summer of 2018, which sold out only minutes after going on sale, and can be seen in the HBO special Flight of the Conchords: Live in London.

"Nandor the Relentless," portrayed by Kayvan Novak, is a fierce Ottoman warrior and a caller of house meetings. He is the de facto head of the vampire household, and despite his reputation as a conqueror, he’s actually a bit of a softy. In fact, he might just miss his former familiar Guillermo a little more than he’s willing to let on. This season, Nandor will find new territories to conquer, take an interest in the neighborhood and even get a new job. And if Guillermo happens to be around for all these things, that’s just a coincidence!

"Laszlo Cravensworth," portrayed by Matt Berry, is a man of many talents. It’s impossible to measure the immense effect he’s had on culture; throughout his life he’s been a musician, an artist and a pornographer. But after studying Guillermo in his half-human, half-vampire state, Laszlo’s discovered he’s got more to offer the world of science. This season, he dives headfirst into a previously unfinished project he hopes will be his crowning achievement.

Before she was a vampire, "Nadja," portrayed by Natasia Demetriou, was a simple peasant girl from Antipaxos, a tiny island in the Mediterranean. Now she’s a woman of the world — and having reached the pinnacle of vampire society, she’s finding her attention drift towards humans and their strange customs. But Laszlo doesn’t share her interest in humans, and for the first time, they’re pulled in different directions. Will Nadja’s newfound passion for small talk and corporate culture test the sexiest TV couple since Tami and Coach Taylor?

"Guillermo," portrayed by Harvey Guillén, wanted to be a vampire since he was a kid, but when he was finally turned, he discovered he didn’t have what it took to be a bloodthirsty monster — namely the desire to kill humans. So now, he’s got to figure out where he fits in, somewhere in the murky space between human and vampire and vampire killer. Will Guillermo be able to forge his own path in the human world, or will he simply find a new master to serve?

"Colin Robinson," portrayed by Mark Proksch, is a day-walking vampire who thrives in an office environment where small talk is plentiful and reply-all email chains abound. But he’s beginning to realize that an energy vampire cannot thrive on draining and feeding alone — a guy needs friends too. And Colin is determined to find one. The trick will be not entirely depleting their will to live before they can set up a coffee date.

But without the responsibilities of the Vampiric Council and Nadja’s nightclub, she’s been at loose ends with no project to occupy her time. So, when Guillermo and the vampires hand deliver her a mission, she’s more than willing to take it on, no questions asked — other than how many volumes of vampiric history should she retrieve from the archives, and how fast?
