As such, she has a chip on her shoulder and an eager hunger to prove her capabilities to the world.Career HighlightsErana James is known for her breakout role on the hit Prime Video series The Wilds, created by Sarah Streicher. James can currently be seen as the lead in We Were Dangerous, executive produced by Taika Waititi and directed by Josephine Stewart-Te Whiu. The film previously premiered at SXSW and won the Grand Jury Award for Filmmaking. Most recently, she was also seen in the independent film Uproar opposite Minnie Driver, which had its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. James made her feature film debut playing the lead role of “Laura Chant” in the New Zealand film The Changeover alongside Timothy Spall, Melanie Lynskey, Lucy Lawless and Nicholas Galitzine and from co-directors Miranda Harcourt and Stuart McKenzie. The Changeover screened as part of the Alice nella città sidebar at the Rome Film Festival in 2017, the 2018 Sydney Film Festival and the 2018 Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival in South Korea. James is of Māori heritage. Her iwi are Ngāti Whātua o Ōrākei and Waikato Tainui.
