Michael Wiggs is a talent agent and producer. His credits include Breeders (Avalon, Sky, FX), Two for Joy (Blonde To Black Pictures), Elfie Hopkins (Size 9 Productions, Black and Blue Films, Kaleidoscope Entertainment), Compulsion (Size 9 Productions, ITV), Sweeney Todd (Size 9 Productions, Box TV, BBC One) and She's Gone (Size 9 Productions, ITV).

"Paul," portrayed by Martin Freeman, always thought he was a nice, easy-going guy. Then he had children and realized he had within him a seemingly bottomless well of rage. Now that his children are growing up, he finds his parenting style is increasingly out of step and his relationship with his kids increasingly out of his control.

"Ally," portrayed by Daisy Haggard, has spent years trying to stay on top of her career, her kids, her marriage, her relationship with her mother and her sanity. And she’s just about succeeded. But now, every strand of her life is suddenly unraveling and the peri-menopause is driving her to distraction, and then on a bit further.

"Luke," portrayed by Alex Eastwood, is now 13 and his anxiety has grown with him. He can be a loner who finds the world a challenge. Paul’s style of parenting has never really worked for his son, but now Luke’s of an age where he can tell his dad exactly what’s gone wrong.

"Ava," portrayed by Eve Prenelle, is a thinker. She thinks hard about science and God and friendship, and she’s hyper-sensitive to all the emotional currents swirling around her. Always the good one, always the quiet one, as Ava gets older, she finds she’s growing closer to her friends and her church and more estranged from her family.

Glamorous and entirely unreliable, newly married "Leah," portrayed by Stella Gonet, flits in and out of Ally’s life only when it suits her. The polar opposite of her daughter, they will never be able to fully understand each other. But they have a bond that neither will admit but both value enormously.

Solid, dependable and happily married to Jackie for 50 years, "Jim," portrayed by Alun Armstrong, is bemused by modern parenting and epitomizes old-school male values—he loves his wife, Paul, Ally and his grandchildren but can obviously never tell them.

A loyal mom and grandma, "Jackie," portrayed by Joanna Bacon, is as open with her affection as Jim is reserved. She won’t put up with any nonsense but is always available for last-minute babysitting, support and ice creams.

Ally’s boss and friend "Darren," portrayed by Patrick Baladi, has always been aware that his company’s success rests almost entirely on Ally’s talents. But as crisis after crisis hits his business, he worries now that even Ally might not be able to save them.
