Ted Gesing has been making documentaries since 2003, when his first short Nutria won at SXSW. For the Netflix series Rotten, Gesing wrote and directed the episodes “Big Bird” and “The Peanut Problem.” He has directed a variety of true crime series, starting as a field producer for Jesse Moss on The Investigators and later producing/directing such shows as The Hunt with John Walsh, Disappeared and 48 Hours. Gesing also made four films with the current affairs series Frontline, including co-producing the Emmy®-nominated The Confessions. As a producer on feature documentaries, Gesing has teamed with several award-winning directors. For Alex Gibney’s Jigsaw Productions, he produced Marina Zenovich’s Water & Power: A California Heist, which premiered at Sundance in 2017. His HBO project with Liz Garbus, A Dangerous Son, won a 2019 Peabody Award.
