Matt Thompson is an Emmy® Award-winning producer, director and writer. He is the co-founder and managing partner of Floyd County Productions, one of the premiere animation studios in the United States.

He is best known as the executive producer of FX’s groundbreaking animated spy comedy series Archer, for which Thompson won the 2016 Primetime Emmy Award for “Outstanding Animated Program.” The series, which has also won four consecutive Critics’ Choice Awards for “Best Animated Series” and has received 13 Annie Award nominations during the course of its long run, began airing its 12th season in August 2021.

In his nearly three decade career in animation, Thompson has been the driving force behind animated projects that have reinvented the genre for mature audiences including the aforementioned Archer, which premiered in 2009, and two Adult Swim staples that he co-created: Sealab 2021, which ran for four seasons between 2000-2005, and Frisky Dingo, which aired from 2006-2008.

He recently made his directorial feature film debut with the Netflix animated film America: The Motion Picture, which he also produced. Starring Channing Tatum as the voice of “George Washington,” the film is described as an R-rated revisionist history lesson about the founding of the country.

He is also the executive producer of the Marvel/Hulu animated series Hit Monkey based on the famed Marvel comic book character. Thompson also executive produces the live-action series Shark Lords for FXX’s Cake.
