Loy’s closest friend and most trusted advisor, "Doctor Senator," portrayed by Glynn Turman, is The Cannon Limited’s second-in-command. A second-generation Missouri native, Doctor possesses degrees in both law and economics. He is a man who demands your respect, whether you’re willing to give it or not.

A former Negro League baseball player, "Leon Bittle," portrayed by Jeremie Harris, is the most flashy member of The Cannon Limited. He was raised in Tennessee and served in the Army during WWII where he excelled at killing Germans up close with a bayonet. Leon’s a climber and aspires to be just like Loy someday.

Henchman for the The Cannon Limited, "Omie Sparkman," portrayed by Corey Hendrix, once thrived as an amateur boxer until an injury forced him into early retirement — the injury that gave him his trademark milky eye. Today he specializes in punishing the enemies of Loy Cannon.

"Opal Rackley," portrayed by James Vincent Meredith, is Loy Cannon’s personal bodyguard. He enlisted in the Navy during WWII and fought his way across the Pacific. But despite his service, he returned home to a country that treated him as a second-class citizen.

"Lemuel Cannon," portrayed by Matthew Elam, is Loy’s eldest son. Lemuel is an aspiring trumpet player and dreams of following in the footsteps of the Dizzy Gillespies and Charlie Parkers of the world. Needless to say, this is a source of friction between him and his father.

"Josto," portrayed by Jason Schwartzman, is the impulsive and self-indulgent son of Donatello Fadda and heir apparent to the Fadda Crime Family. Unlike his father, who clawed and scratched his way to the top, Josto has only known plenty, and believes he’s entitled to the wealth and power that his father has amassed.

Josto’s younger brother “Gaetano Fadda,” portrayed by Salvatore Esposito, was raised in Sardinia away from his family. He came of age killing communists for Mussolini and eventually became a kingpin in his own right. A bear of a man, Gaetano believes that a banker should never be more powerful than a soldier.

"Constant Calamita," portrayed by Gaetano Bruno, is the head enforcer for the Fadda Crime Family. If the devil had a cousin, this would be him. Calamita comes across as suave and debonair, but make no mistake, he’s a stone-cold killer.

"Thurman Smutny," portrayed by Andrew Bird, is the father of Ethelrida. He’s a proto-beatnik – a man of modern ideas in a world resistant to change. Thurman and his wife, Dibrell, run a funeral home in Kansas City that he inherited from his family. He raises his daughter the best way he can in this complicated time.

"Dibrell Smutny," portrayed by Anji White, is the mother of Ethelrida. Suffice it to say, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, for it’s Dibrell who showed Ethelrida how to be a strong woman who marches to the beat of her own drum. Dibrell is determined to do what is necessary for the good of her family.
