"Margaret," portrayed by Gayle Rankin, who’s marriage to Tom raised her social status, is still striving to establish herself among polite society. As she constantly battles the ghost of Tom’s first wife, he is frequently cold and dismissive of her. Margaret’s true source of joy is their only child, Rufus. She is a doting, overprotective mother and feels threatened by anyone who may divert his affections.

Career Highlights

Best known for her role as “Sheila the She-Wolf” in Netflix's hit GLOW, Gayle was most recently seen in the popular HBO reboot of Perry Mason opposite Matthew Rhys. Last May, Gayle had a Cannes break-out in Mike Covino and Kyle Martin’s film The Climb, receiving great reviews as it made the festival rounds. Other feature credits include; Amazon’s Blow the Man Down, Her Smell opposite Elizabeth Moss, Noah Baumbach’s Meyerowitz Stories, Irreplaceable You opposite Gugu Mbatha-Raw and the role of “Queen Victoria” in The Greatest Showman. Gayle will next be seen in Alex Garland’s upcoming film, the highly anticipated Men.

Gayle is an established star of New York’s theater scene. Her credits there include Ophelia opposite Oscar Isaac in Sam Gold’s production of Hamlet, Phyllida Lloyd’s all-female The Taming of the Shrew, Tony Kushner’s The Illusion, and Sam Gold’s The Mystery of Love & Sex opposite Diane Lane. Gayle made her Broadway debut in Cabaret for director Sam Mendes.
