After a shocking loss reminds Billy of his pending mortality, he decides to take a risk to improve his quality of life — a groundbreaking new medication for muscular dystrophy that could help him regain some function but that also has dangerous and unexpected side effects. With his father sleeping on the couch and interfering with his life at every turn and his alcoholic brother flaking out on taking care of him, Billy must fight even harder this season to achieve some semblance of independence in the face of his health woes.

Career Highlights

DJ Qualls continues to build a notable career in a myriad of film and television roles.

Qualls plays 'Billy' in the FXX comedy series Legit that returns February 2014. He can also be seen as recurring character 'Garth Fitzgerald' on the hit CW series, Supernatural and on TNT's Perception as FBI Agent 'Rudy Fleckner.' In TNT's police drama Memphis Beat, Qualls appeared as 'Sutton' alongisde Alfre Woodward and Jason Lee. In 2012, he was seen in the film Small Apartments with Matt Lucas, Billy Crystal, James Caan and Rebel Wilson. He also played 'Zeke' in the 2010 film, Amigo.

Other movie credits include the critically-acclaimed Hustle and Flow. DJ played 'Shelby,' the young white guy with musical talent who helps in creating Djay's (Terrence Howard) new music career. He was also seen in the film Little Athens, I'm Reed Fish, Lone Star State of Mind, All About Steve, as well as The Core. Prior to that, Qualls starred in Revolution Studio's The New Guy, a script written specifically for him. Directed by There's Something About Mary co-writer Ed Decter, the story centers around a nerdy high school senior (Qualls) who gets himself expelled so that he can attend the town's rival high school and reinvent himself as "cool."

Qualls is perhaps best known for his role as 'Kyle' in the DreamWorks smash hit, Road Trip. He has since added many other film credits to his name, including: Delta Farce, Big Trouble, Cherry Falls, and Mama Flora's Family. Other television credits include: Criminal Minds, Lost, Monk, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Scrubs, My Name is Earl, Big Bang Theory, and Breaking Bad.

Qualls grew up in a small town in middle Tennessee. After studying at the University of London, he returned to Tennessee and began performing in local theatre and was later discovered by photographers David Chappelle and Steven Kline. This led  to a career modeling for Prada and other advertising/editorial campaigns.

Qualls splits his time between Los Angeles and Tennessee. He is proud to be a cancer survivor and an advocate for cancer awareness and research.
