Still struggling to be altruistic instead of selfish, thoughtful instead of thoughtless and disciplined instead of hedonistic, "Jim" played by Jim Jefferies, is trying to better himself and the lives of those around him — and take a little (or let’s face it - a lot) for himself every chance he gets. After having been fired from a movie that is now a big hit, Jim struggles mightily with his career and his personal life. A string of missteps and disappointments culminate in an unlikely opportunity for Jim to get his career on track. The tables turn on him when he is sexually harassed by a female executive and, just when all seems lost, performs an edgy routine about gun control that earns some surprising attention.

"Steve," portrayed by Dan Bakkedahl, is battling his shame spiral and an unnatural penchant for self-loathing, and just can’t stop screwing up since he lost his daughter. With parenthood no longer keeping him in check, Steve turns to a life of escapism and boozing while taking idiotic measures to get his daughter back from his ex-wife in Cincinnati.

After a shocking loss reminds Billy of his pending mortality, he decides to take a risk to improve his quality of life — a groundbreaking new medication for muscular dystrophy that could help him regain some function but that also has dangerous and unexpected side effects. With his father sleeping on the couch and interfering with his life at every turn and his alcoholic brother flaking out on taking care of him, Billy must fight even harder this season to achieve some semblance of independence in the face of his health woes.

Finally free of her loser husband, "Janice," portrayed by Mindy Sterling, explores her dating options and finds herself to be something the boys never expected — pleasant. After shedding Walter’s dead weight, Janice begins to see things in a different light. An unexpected loss leads Janice somewhere she never thought she’d be — in Jim’s arms — and she finds herself the comedian’s unlikely defender during a visit with his mother and after an altercation with some Mexican gangbangers

"Walter," portrayed by John Ratzenberger, explores what it’s like to be an unattached bachelor by crashing with the boys after an unexpected fight with his wife, Janice. Whether he’s guzzling his stinky tea, buying Asian hookers with Jim’s dad, or explaining the meaning of life, Walter injects the household with unwanted wisdom and advice at every turn. The question is: how do they get him to leave?

"Ramona," portrayed by Sonya Eddy, finally gets to give the boys a piece of her mind. Whether she’s setting Jim straight on the perils of dating a racist or reading the boys the riot act for their perceptions of women, Ramona remains the much-needed moral conscience of 958 Brooks Avenue.
