Love Story

Max Winkler is an acclaimed director, producer and screenwriter, widely recognized for his distinctive voice in modern storytelling and stylistic versatility across film and television.Recently, Winkler directed and executive produced the third season of Netflix's hit true-crime anthology Monster about serial killer Ed Gein, starring Charlie Hunnam. He is also set to direct the pilot of season four, which will focus on the infamous Lizzie Borden case, starring Ella Beatty.Upcoming, Winkler will direct the pilot for The Shards, an FX limited series adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis' prep school thriller novel, also produced by Ryan Murphy.Winkler is a longtime collaborator of Ryan Murphy's, having worked with him as director and executive producer on FX's Grotesquerie, multiple installments of FX's American Horror Story, Monster (including The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story) and FX's FEUD: Capote Vs. The Swans. His other television credits include pilots of School Spirits and Cruel Summer, which is the highest-rated series in Freeform's history.In film, Winkler most recently directed the critically acclaimed Jungleland, a gritty brotherhood boxing drama, which starred Charlie Hunnam and Jack O'Connell. He also wrote and directed the dark comedy Flower, starring Zoey Deutch, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2017. Winkler made his feature film debut in 2010 with Ceremony, a romantic dramedy that he also wrote, which starred Uma Thurman, Michael Angarano and Lee Pace.
