Stacey Sher has produced more than two dozen major motion pictures amassing nearly $2.2 billion at the global box office. Her many critically acclaimed and commercially successful production credits include such notable titles as Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction, Django Unchained and The Hateful Eight; Steven Soderbergh’s Erin Brockovich, Out of Sight and Contagion; Garden State; Reality Bites; and Get Shorty.Sher is a two-time Academy Award® nominee, receiving nomination honors for Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained, starring Jamie Foxx, Leonardo DiCaprio, Christoph Waltz, Samuel L. Jackson and Kerry Washington, and Steven Soderbergh’s Erin Brockovich, with Julia Roberts and Albert Finney. Sher served as an executive producer on the Academy Award-winning documentary short, Period, End of Sentence, which was co-produced by her daughter Maggie Brown.Sher has also produced nearly a dozen TV series and TV movies, which, in addition to AMC’s hit series Into the Badlands, include the critically acclaimed TV series Sweet/Vicious and Reno 911, on which she served as an executive producer for all six seasons.Sher is currently executive producing the television series The Devil in the White City with Martin Scorsese, Leonardo DiCaprio, Rick Yorn, Emma Koskoff and Jennifer Davisson. The series is in development for Paramount Television and Hulu.Sher has been the recipient of many honors, including one by the ACLU for her commitment to film and television projects that are empowering, inspirational and thought-provoking, dealing with issues from public safety to education, social justice to censorship. In 2007, Freedom Writers, which was produced by Sher and written and directed by Richard LaGravenese, was chosen as the recipient of the Humanitas Prize. World Trade Center, directed by Oliver Stone and produced by Sher, was chosen for the 2006 Christopher Award, which is presented to those who create films that affirm the highest values of the human spirit. Sher was also the recipient of the 2002 Mary Pickford Award from the USC School of Cinematic Arts and the Women in Film Independent Vision Award in the year 2000. In 2013, Sher returned to her alma mater and delivered the commencement address at the USC School of Cinematic Arts (SCA) graduation ceremony. Sher was honored by Chrysalis in 2018 at their annual Butterfly Ball for her contributions to the Los Angeles community.Sher is a member of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, BAFTA, the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and the Producers Guild of America.

A self-described activist housewife from Illinois, "Phyllis Schlafly," portrayed by Cate Blanchett, was a conservative firebrand and virulent anti-communist. She had six children, authored several books, and published a popular newsletter. In 1972, she launched a national campaign against the Equal Rights Amendment. She remained active as a commentator for decades, and the ripple effects of her work can still be felt today.

"Gloria Steinem," portrayed by Rose Byrne, was the most recognizable leader of the women’s movement. She co-founded Ms. Magazine, was co-founder of the National Women’s Political Caucus, and played a major part in the effort to pass the ERA.

A leading figure in the feminist movement, "Bella Abzug," portrayed by Margo Martindale, was a three-term Congresswoman who co-founded the National Women’s Political Caucus, and spearheaded the effort to pass the ERA.

"Shirley Chisholm," portrayed by Uzo Aduba, not only made history as the first African American Congresswoman, but also became the first African American candidate to run for President from a national political party when she launched her unprecedented 1972 campaign. She was instrumental in getting the ERA passed in the House in 1971, and was a co-founding member of the National Women’s Political Caucus and the Congressional Black Caucus.

A pro-choice, socially progressive Republican, "Jill Ruckelshaus," portrayed by Elizabeth Banks, was appointed by President Ford to run a presidential commission to advance women’s rights and push for ratification of the ERA. She fought to keep the Republican Party from being taken over by the Religious Right.

Known as the mother of the women’s movement, "Betty Friedan," portrayed by Tracey Ullman, wrote The Feminine Mystique and co-founded the National Women's Political Caucus. She was an active proponent of the ERA.

"Eleanor Schlafly," portrayed by Jeanne Tripplehorn, is Fred's sister, a close confidante of Phyllis, and a devoted aunt to Phyllis' six children.
