Michael Hyatt plays “Cissy Saint,” Franklin's mother. Pragmatic and hard-working, Cissy raised Franklin primarily on her own. Partnering with her son on a real estate business, season four finds Cissy with new hopes for her family and their future as the world continues to change around them.
Hyatt was born in England to Jamaican parents. At the age of 10 she immigrated to the United States with her mother and two siblings. Living in Maryland and later Washington, D.C., Hyatt slowly adjusted to the American way of life. She went on to study acting at Howard University for her undergraduate degree and continued at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts for her master’s.
Before Hyatt's work in film and television, she enjoyed memorable performances on stages throughout the country, most notably on Broadway in the critically acclaimed Ragtime.
Hyatt’s numerous television credits include The West Wing, The Wire, The Kill Point, True Detective, Ray Donovan and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.
Hyatt can be seen in the Rodrigo Garcia feature film Four Good Days opposite Glenn Close which premiered at Sundance Film Festival in January 2020. Come up, she will appear in the Warner Bros. feature film The Little Things opposite Denzel Washington and Rami Malek and the CBS miniseries A Higher Loyalty as “Loretta Lynch” opposite Jeff Daniels and Holly Hunter. Hyatt continues to be grateful to be a part of the FX Snowfall team as well.
She currently resides in Los Angeles.
