Actor and recording artist Simmie Sims III, professionally known as Buddy, has emerged as a dynamic creative force across music and film. Raised in Compton, California, Sims began performing at an early age, taking the stage at just seven years old in productions such as “The Wiz” and “Dreamgirls.” The son of a preacher and choir director, he was immersed in gospel and soul from childhood—an influence that continues to shape the emotional depth of both his music and on-screen performances.As a teenager, Sims attended a performing arts high school in Long Beach, where he studied theater and music while refining his craft. At 15, he was discovered by music executive Scott Vener and later signed by Pharrell Williams, launching his professional music career under the name Buddy.
