Asante Blackk stars as “Lamar Kinsey,” Wanda’s baby cousin with a musical gift she’s helped nurture his whole life. Music isn’t just a hobby for Lamar, it’s the sole remaining connection to his late musician mother who passed away before he can remember. As Wanda helps Lamar fulfill his music ambitions, a rift grows between Lamar and the grandparents that raised him, who view the music business as a morally corrupt environment that will lead to his destruction or worse.

Asante Blackk is an Emmy-nominated actor who has quickly established himself as one of Hollywood's most promising young talents.He first garnered widespread acclaim for his breakout performance in Ava DuVernay's Emmy Award-winning limited series “When They See Us,” a powerful retelling of the Central Park Five case. His portrayal of Kevin Richardson earned him an Emmy Award nomination and a Critics Choice Award nomination.Blackk was previously seen in NBC’s “This Is Us” alongside Mandy Moore and Sterling K. Brown, for which his performance earned him a Critics Choice Award. His other credits include starring opposite Tiffany Haddish in Cory Finley's “Landscape with Invisible Hand” for MGM and Plan B, as well as leading Aristotle Torres' feature adaptation of “Story Ave,” produced by Jamie Foxx and Datari Turner.
