Thomas Schlamme is a Houston native who most recently directed several episodes of Netflix’s upcoming “Kennedy” series. Other recent projects include the limited series “A Man in Full” for Netflix; the finale of FX’s “Under the Banner of Heaven”; the limited series “The Plot Against America” for HBO; and “A West Wing Special to Benefit When We All Vote” for HBO Max, the latter earning him a Directors Guild of America (DGA) Award and two Emmy Award nominations.Schlamme is responsible for creating the look and tone of groundbreaking shows that have shaped the landscape of modern television. His body of work includes a long-standing partnership with writer Aaron Sorkin, spanning three series—“The West Wing,” “Sports Night” and “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip”—for which he received multiple Emmy Awards as a director and executive producer. Other notable series include “Spin City,” “The Larry Sanders Show,” “Parenthood,” “Pan Am” and “Manhattan.”Along with his directing work, Schlamme continues to develop projects through his company, Shoe Money Productions, most recently the hit drama “Snowfall,” which aired for six critically acclaimed seasons on FX. He has won three DGA Awards and nine Emmy Awards, and he served two terms as the president of the Directors Guild of America from 2017 to 2021.
