The Veil

Dali Benssalah stars as “Malik Amar,” a French Algerian DGSE operative who is Imogen’s handler and lover. Malik isn’t naturally a rule breaker. However, as the threat on his world and Imogen closes in, he starts to realize that sometimes a little rebellion is what’s needed. He is courageous, kind and will stop at nothing to protect both his country and Imogen.

Career Highlights

Dali Benssalah left university and went to Paris with a desire to make films in 2012. He joined the Cours Florent, where he discovered dramatic art and decided to devote himself fully. He continued his training at the Théâtre National de la Colline, then at the Strasbourg Theatre with Stanislas Nordey and the Fabrica in Avignon with Olivier Py.In 2017, Benssalah starred in the lead role in a famous music video from The Blaze called “Territory.” The video won a host of awards at festivals, and several directors then asked to meet with him about television series and film projects. He starred in Nox by Mabrouk El Mechri, A Faithful Man by Louis Garrel, Street Flow by Kery James and Leïla Sy and Savages, a series directed by Rebecca Zlotowski and co-starring Roschdy Zem and Marina Foïs. He did not abandon theater, however, and reunited with Olivier Py in the play Pur Présent at the Avignon Festival and on tour.In 2021, Benssalah starred in Cary Joji Fukunaga's latest James Bond film No Time to Die with Daniel Craig, Rami Malek and Léa Seydoux. He also appeared in My Brothers and I by Yohan Manca, selected for Un Certain Regard at Cannes Film Festival, Tropique de la Violence by Manuel Schapira and A Flower in the Mouth by Éric Baudelaire, with Oxmo Puccino. A year later, he was also seen in Romain Gavras' Athena, an epic film with flamboyant direction, which was selected for the Venice International Film Festival.In 2023, Benssalah appeared in three movies: The Line by Ursula Meier, which was in competition at the Berlin Film Festival, All Your Faces by Jeanne Herry, starring Adèle Exarchopoulos and Leïla Bekhti and The Last Queen co-directed by Damien Ounouri and Adila Bendimerad, which was selected in the Giornate Degli Autori category at the Venice International Film Festival and the Red Sea International Film Festival.2024 is already a fully booked year for Benssalah, who will be starring in three projects. Among them, the movie Submergée by Alanté Kavaite, the 2023 Sundance Film Festival award-winning thriller The Accidental Getaway Driver by Sing J. Lee and Meursault Contre-Enquête by Malek Bensmail.
