Based on a short film that screened at Sundance in 2003, Jason Gann co-created and starred in the Australian series of Wilfred beginning in 2005. For the U.S. version on FX, Gann serves as executive producer, writer and as the title character “Wilfred.”
The first season of FX’s Wilfred (U.S.) was met with glowing reviews garnering Gann The Screaming Banshee Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Comedy and GQ Australia’s Comedian of the Year.
Gann's acclaimed performance in the Australian Wilfred earned him a myriad of awards including nominations for The Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Award (AFI) for Best Male Performance in a Comedy and a Logie Award for Best Performance in a Television Comedy. Gann's writing on Wilfred earned him an AFI for Best Screenplay in Television.
Prior to Wilfred, Gann, based in Australia, wrote and starred in the television series The Wedge on Network Ten, in which he created the character of “Mark Wary.” Gann's performance was a sensation, and he produced a spin-off series for Network Ten called Mark Loves Sharon. Gann served as creator, executive producer, writer and lead actor. Gann's feature-film work includes Rats and Cats, The Illustrated Family Doctor, Thunderstruck and Gettin’ Square. Jason currently lives in Los Angeles.
