Brian K. Vaughan is the multiple Eisner Award-winning writer and co-creator of several New York Times bestselling graphic novels, including SAGA with artist Fiona Staples as well as Y: The Last Man with artist Pia Guerra. He has been writing for film and television since his time on the hit series Lost and currently serves as executive producer on Amazon Studio’s adaptation of Paper Girls, a series from Image Comics that Vaughan created with artist Cliff Chiang.<o:p></o:p>

Diane Lane stars as "Jennifer Brown," a top Democratic lawmaker who's polished public image hides a complicated family life. After a worldwide disaster wipes out every person with a Y chromosome, Jennifer moves up the line of succession to become President, a lifelong ambition under the worst possible circumstances. Jennifer assembles a dedicated team of women to rebuild the country, only to have her plans upended when she learns her son Yorick might be the sole survivor of the Event.

Ashley Romans portrays "Agent 355," who is a secret agent for an elite, covert task force. Agent 355 is a social chameleon, able to switch personas on a dime. She covers emotional scars and grief with bravado and confidence. She does not suffer fools and has long shunned real intimacy for fear of abandonment. She is charming, cunning, complicated and smart as hell.

An aspiring escape artist, "Yorick Brown," portrayed by Ben Schnetzer, barely scrapes by teaching magic to wealthy kids. Overshadowed by his impressive parents and reckless sister, Yorick took on the role of people pleaser, confidant and class clown. Now an adult, his goofball persona is wearing thin and he can't even begin to unpack the emotional scars it helps him ignore. He's an old school romantic, deeply in love with his high school sweetheart and desperate to reunite with her when disaster causes their separation.

Olivia Thirlby stars as "Hero Brown," is a former perfectionist who has burnt out in a sea of unmet expectations. She is headstrong, sharp-tongued, smart and occasionally mean. She hides in substances and sex. She loves fiercely (her brother, her best friend Sam), but does not love herself. Her sharp edges cover a well of shame and make her a willing recruit for a dangerous group of women in the post-apocalyptic landscape.

Amber Tamblyn portrays "Kimberly Campbell Cunningham," a best-selling author with a conservative personality. Kimberly would say her most important job is being a mother to three young boys. The daughter of the President, Kimberly used her connections and political savvy to build a lifestyle brand around being a “boy mom.” Devastated after the death of her children, Kimberly works to install a new President who will do whatever it takes to bring back the world they’ve lost.

A press advisor to a Republican president, "Nora Brady," portrayed by Marin Ireland, is pragmatic, hard-working and deferential, even when it makes her angry. And it often does. She spent her career advising charming politicians (mostly men) whom she is smarter than. Nora has accumulated markers of success—a White House job, the perfect husband, two kids, but none of it feels like enough. After a global disaster, Nora struggles to survive with her preteen daughter, discovering an untapped well of resolve she didn’t know she had.

Elliot Fletcher portrays "Sam Jordan," a New York City performance artist from rural Maine. Sam escaped an addict mother and an unstable childhood. He is Hero Brown’s best friend and enabler, and their friendship is complicated and co-dependent but full of love. Sam values artistic expression and his community, which leaves him feeling especially adrift in a world that now doesn’t seem to have much utility for art.

Juliana Canfield portrays "Beth Deville," Yorick's high school sweetheart who became a live-in boyfriend. Their relationship was comfortable, safe… and Beth wanted more. The only child of a single mother, Beth is at the precipice of a new adventure (a highly coveted fellowship in Australia) when the Event happens. In the aftermath of the Event, Beth believes that Yorick is dead and she struggles with survivor’s guilt, as she leaves her old life behind.
