Matt Thompson is an Emmy Award®-winning producer, director and writer. He is the co-founder and managing partner of Floyd County Productions, one of the premier animation studios in the United States. In his nearly three-decade career in animation, Thompson has been the driving force behind animated projects that have reinvented the genre for mature audiences.He formed Floyd County Productions in 2009 alongside his creative partner, Adam Reed. What began as an eight-person studio has grown into one of the most competitive and sought-after animation houses in the industry, with a staff of over 200 talented creatives. Thompson began his creative partnership with Reed in the early 1990s when they met as production assistants at Cartoon Network, where they would eventually sell their first series, Sealab 2021 (2000-2005), to the network’s Adult Swim late-night programming block. Thompson is perhaps best known as the executive producer of FX’s groundbreaking animated spy comedy series, Archer, for which Thompson won the 2016 Primetime Emmy Award for “Outstanding Animated Program.” The series, which has also won four consecutive Critics Choice Awards for “Best Animated Series” and has received 13 Annie Award nominations during the course of its long run, is set to return for the 13th season.In 2021 Thompson made his feature-length debut with the Netflix animated film, America: The Motion Picture starring Channing Tatum as the voice of George Washington in what is being described as an R-rated revisionist history lesson about the founding of the country. The film was written by Dave Callaham and produced by Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s Lord Miller, Tatum’s Free Association and Callaham’s Jittery Dog. Thompson is also the executive producer of the Marvel/Hulu animated series Hit Monkey based on the famed Marvel comic book character, and the director and executive producer of the shortform animated series Poorly Drawn Lines and Dicktown.In addition to developing animated series and digital entertainment such as Archer, Unsupervised and Chozen, Floyd County Productions also creates content for live-action series including Atlanta, Legion, Fargo, The League, Bobcat Goldthwait’s Misfits &amp; Monsters, Goliath and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
