Executive Producer

Branden Jacobs-Jenkins is showrunner, executive producer and writer for FX’s new drama series, Kindred. Octavia E. Butler’s groundbreaking novel, upon which the series is based, has resonated with Jacobs-Jenkins since his teenage years and adapting the story for television has been both a longtime passion and pursuit.

Previously Jacobs-Jenkins was consulting producer on HBO’s Emmy-winning limited series Watchmen as well as Prime Video’s sci-fi western, Outer Range

In addition to his television work, Jacobs-Jenkins is an award-winning playwright and two-time Pulitzer Prize finalist whose celebrated works include Girls, Everybody, War, Gloria, Appropriate, An Octoroon, and Neighbors. A Residency Five playwright at Signature Theatre and a 2020 Guggenheim fellow, his honors include a USA Artists fellowship, the Charles Wintour Award, the MacArthur fellowship, the Windham-Campbell Prize for Drama, and the inaugural Tennessee Williams Award. He currently serves as Vice President of the Dramatists Guild council and sits on the boards of Soho Rep, Park Avenue Armory, the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize, and the Dramatists Guild Foundation.  This fall, he joins the faculty of Yale University as Professor of Practice.
