Co-Executive Producer / Writer

BJ Porter began his career writing and performing on the HBO sketch comedy program, Mr. Show, which was nominated for an Emmy® Award in 1999.

Most recently, Porter is a Co-Executive Producer and Writer on FX’s Married and a Supervising Producer and Writer on the new FOX animated series Bordertown. Previously, he was a Co-Executive Producer and Writer on the HBO series The Life & Times of Tim, a writer for NTSF:SD:SUV on Adult Swim and Head Writer for the 2010 MTV Movie Awards, hosted by Aziz Ansari. Porter has also created pilots for Showtime, USA, FOX, NBC and Comedy Central.

In 2007, Porter co-created and produced a sketch show pilot for FOX titled The Right Now! Show. One of the sketches from this pilot, “Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis,” was uploaded to Funny Or Die’s website and was an immediate hit. The series was nominated for an Emmy in 2013, and won the award in 2014. Porter has also directed some of the most popular episodes within the series including those with Steve Carrell and Jennifer Aniston. In March 2014, an episode was released with President Barack Obama, designed to bring attention to the Affordable Care Act.

In addition to writing for film and television, Porter has made memorable guest appearances on programs such as Just Shoot Me!, Malcolm in the Middle, Angel and The Sarah Silverman Program.
