Nila Aalia portrays "Angu Ayah," the housekeeper at the Palace of Mopu. Angu previously tended Princess Srimati and travelled with her throughout Europe.

Career Highlights

Aalia’s multicultural origins and nomadic spirit have inspired her passion for travel and languages. She identifies as a global citizen. Her favorite quote is from the Sufi poet Rumi: “Beyond all ideas of right and wrong, there is a field. I’ll meet you there.” While playing “Angu Ayah” in Black Narcissus, she felt this quote came alive.

Most recently, Aalia has been filming Halo (Showtime) and I Hate Suzie (Sky Atlantic). Her additional credits include The Commuter (StudioCanal), A Discovery of Witches (Sky One), Years & Years (BBC One/RED Productions), An Adventure (Bush Theatre).

Aalia’s stage credits include Bombay Dreams (Really Useful Theatre Company), Elder Latimer is in Love (Arcola Theatre), Ramayana (Sita Theatre), Mahabharata (Gita Productions) and Instant Celebrity (Silver Star Productions).
