Charlie Day stars as "Charlie" in the critically-acclaimed FXX original series It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. He also serves as executive producer and writer of the show.

Actor, producer, director Charlie Day’s comedic talent in both film and television has garnered him a loyal following among critics and fans all over the world.
Day will make his feature film directorial debut on May 12 with the satirical comedy Fool’s Paradise, which he also wrote and stars in. The film stars Ken Jeong, the late Ray Liotta, Kate Beckinsale, Adrien Brody, Common, Jason Sudeikis, Edie Falco and John Malkovich. Charlie can also recently be seen on the big screen voicing the role of “Luigi” in Universal/Illumination’s animated film The Super Mario Bros opposite Chris Pratt.
On television, Day currently stars as the hapless “Charlie Kelly” on It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia for which he also writes and executive produces. He created the show in collaboration with friends and co-producers Rob McElhenney and Glenn Howerton. It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia is TV’s longest running live-action sitcom. With Rob McElhenney and Megan Ganz, he also created the Apple TV+ series Mythic Quest: Raven’s Banquet.
Before It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Day had a recurring role on NBC’s Third Watch and appeared on the FOX comedy Luis. Other television credits include Drunk History, Law & Order SVU, American Dad, Reno 911, Mary and Rhoda, Madigan Men, Campfire Stories and Unsupervised.
In film, Day is best known for his roles in Going the Distance, Horrible Bosses, I Want You Back, Monsters University, Pacific Rim, The Lego Movie, Horrible Bosses 2, Vacation, The Hollars, Fist Fight, Pacific Rim: Uprising, I Love You, Daddy, The Lego Movie 2 and Hotel Artemis.
Day began his acting career onstage and participated in the Williamstown Theatre Festival for four years. He went on to play the lead role in Dead End at the Huntington Theater in Boston. Day was born in the Bronx, New York and grew up in Rhode Island. He currently lives in Los Angeles with his wife, Mary Elizabeth, and their son.
