Glenn Howerton stars as "Dennis" in the critically-acclaimed FXX original series It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. He also serves as a writer and executive producer of the show.

Career Highlights

Glenn Howerton can most recently be seen playing Jim Balsillie in Blackberry, the Canadian biopic directed by Matt Johnson about the history of the line of mobile phones. The film will be released with IFC Films. Howerton can next be seen in Fool’s Paradise, a satirical comedy written and directed by Charlie Day. The film follows a fool who accidentally becomes a celebrity and loses it all. Howerton can be also seen playing “John” in How It Ends, the feel-good apocalyptic comedy-drama film written, directed and produced by Daryl Wein and Zoe Lister-Jones.

Howerton previously starred alongside Patton Oswalt in the NBC & Peacock comedy A.P. Bio. Howerton is best known for playing the jerk next door “Dennis Reynolds” on FX’s wildly popular and long running It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. In addition to his starring role, Howerton serves as co-creator and writer on the series.

A true multi-hyphenate, Howerton is a graduate of the prestigious Juilliard School of Drama and began his career onstage. He has also been seen in television hits such as The Mindy Project, the first installment of FX’s original anthology series Fargo and Showtime’s House of Lies. His film work includes Lionsgate’s Everything Must Go starring Will Ferrell and Crank and Crank 2 starring Jason Statham. He also produced his first feature All the Wilderness which starred Kodi Smit-McPhee.

Glenn Howerton along with Rob McElhenney and Charlie Day co-host the highly popular It’s Always Sunny podcast, where they look back at the last 15 seasons of the show. Glenn and the other Sunny stars and co-creators recently launched Four Walls, a new Irish whiskey brand. All proceeds from the whiskey will go to Pennsylvania Restaurant & Lodging Association’s HARP (Hospitality Assistance Response of Pennsylvania).

The son of a decorated Air Force fighter pilot, Howerton was born in Japan and lived all over the world before settling with his family in Montgomery, Alabama. Howerton currently lives in Los Angeles with his wife and children.
