David Hornsby is a longtime executive producer, writer and recurring actor on FXX's hit comedy It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, where he plays the role of “Rickety Cricket.”For the past four seasons, Hornsby has also been a series regular, executive producer and director on Apple TV+’s critically acclaimed comedy Mythic Quest and serves as executive producer of its spinoff, Side Quest.As a creator and writer, Hornsby has developed original series including CBS’ How to Be a Gentleman, FX’s animated series Unsupervised and NBC’s Mission Control. He has also written for Netflix's animated series Big Mouth.As an actor, Hornsby has had recurring roles on Universal/Netflix’s Good Girls and FX’s Baskets, with additional TV appearances including FOX’s New Girl, HBO’s Hello Ladies and Six Feet Under and Spike TV’s faux reality series The Joe Schmo Show. He has provided numerous voiceovers for animation and was recently nominated for an Annie Award for his portrayal of the “Joker” in Merry Little Batman.His film appearances include Clint Eastwood’s Flags of Our Fathers, Pretty Bird opposite Paul Giamatti and Billy Crudup and AVP: Requiem. Most recently, Hornsby can be seen alongside Nicole Kidman and Jamie Lee Curtis in Amazon’s upcoming crime drama Scarpetta. He is currently co-writing the book for a Broadway musical adaptation of Warner Bros.' cult classic film The Lost Boys, which is set to premiere in Spring 2026.Hornsby was born in Virginia, raised in Houston, Texas, and currently resides in Los Angeles with his wife and two sons.
